Awakening (in Silence at Naramata)

Awakening is a series of poems written while I was on an eight-day silent retreat at Naramata Centre. Many of them, particularly those in Quail in a Pine Tree came to me fully formed in a sudden explosion of creativity. As the retreat progressed and I entered deeper into the silence, the poems themselves came from deeper within, requiring more effort and even anguish to give them form.
Some are much better than others, but I have included them all.
